Saturday evening fun or was it?

Hello to all sorry I have been a slacker.  This past week was crazy and this one is starting out the same way.  So Saturday we went out as a family to the dollar movies it was the whole family even grandpa tagged along and he hasn't be!en to the movies since the sound of music came out, so some us know how long that has been!  Needless to say it was and adventure!!! We crowded 8 people into my 7 passenger SUV and hit the road.

I had gone out Friday evening with friends from work to celebrate a birthday so I was already all karaoked out!  This however did nothing to stop the car full of kids who each in their own mind believe they are talented singers, which is not the case! Ouch it was torture, to say the least everyone singing off key to a Taylor Swift song.  Grandpa wanted to know where the ambulance was, LOL. Only there was no sirens it was the singing, it was that bad.

At this point the car got quiet as Brittany proceeded to read her post from her blog the day before.  You could have heard a pin drop as there was an eerie silence in the whole car, except for some occasional sniffing from those of us who were crying.  She managed to turn this crazy moment into a tearfest as some wondered who she was referring to. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat as I continued to drive.  How could I not have known that she was suffering so much in silence, how had I missed the signs?  In all of the craziness of our day to day lives, I had not realized exactly what she was going through.  She is after all my oldest, my rock, my right hand man for so many of the day to day things and yes I do encourage her as much as I can and time and money will permit for her to go out and have fun with her friends.  I more than anyone know how much she sacrifices to help our family stay afloat.  I miss my cheerful young Brittany with out a care in the world always smiling and laughing.  I completely love, respect and admire my new older Brittany and now I know how things are really affecting her.  She is like a locked diary, she never spills a secret and I know that this is a dangerous way to live.  She scares me sometimes because she is bottling everything up and if and when she explodes the explosion is going to be felt for miles around.  I am so happy that she does blog because this is her outlet this is her place to vent.  I always wonder why the world is such a cruel place sometimes and how people can be so mean and nasty.  I guess that is just one of lifes mysteries.  I thank so may of you out there for being a part of Brittany's life, for giving her a shoulder to cry on, a kind word or gesture to hold on to, and words of encouragement to help her push forward and pursue her dreams.

And onto a lighter note we finally made it to the movies and wiped away our tears and went in to watch the third chapter in the Shrek Saga.  With two stragglers who opted instead to see Ironman 2.  Everyone laughed at the movies even grandpa so all in all it turned out to be a great evening with some sadness mixed in.  But hey that is always a part of my life.  I take the good with the bad and Thank the Lord daily that there is always more good than bad.  And of course as we headed home there was some more of that beautiful singing which I actually minded alot less than on our way to the movies.  Life is good and I am so happy to be the mother of this quirky brood they make it all worthwhile and push me so hard to try to be better in life.  And with this I am off to begin preparations for a small get together to celebrate my graduation with my bachelors degree.  It was a hard, long road but i finally made it.  Thanks Britt for always being there to step in as Mom, thanks Dad for everything you are my hero and I love you so much and thank you to my other munchkins for not complaining so much whenever I was missing in action.  I hope you all know I did it as much for you as for myself, because at some point in the near future I hope things get easier on all of us.  I love you all dearly and thank God for blessing me with the best, craziest kids on earth.

Thank you all for following and God Bless You.

Back to work

Hello everyone!  This has been a very exciting week Brittany was at orientation for UTEP this week she is all registered and ready to start, yes we are all excited.  We are getting prepared for back to work for me and back to school for the kiddos.  Shopping for school supplies on the ever so long lists.  Looking for sales on uniforms for my very unhappy 11 year old who is not excited at all about wearing them. LOL New clothes for me and the rest of the clan.

As a single mother of four you can imagine we are going to be clipping coupons and looking for bargains, so any sales you all know of please let me know.  Every year it seems that the summer goes by faster and faster, so unfair.  But oh well I must be grateful for having this special time to spend with my monkeys.

Today was the day I found out if I actually had a job to go back to, and I am happy to be able to report that yes I do and for the 16th year in a row I will be back at the same place, my old stomping grounds, I must admit I am happy to be back at the same place.  We are getting a brand new building in October and I would have been highly upset if they moved me and I never got to break in the new building.

Brittany is excited about starting college, AA will be a sophomore in high school, Kas will be starting the 6th grade and moving into middle school while my G-baby will be a 2nd grader.  I am back to have 4 kids at 4 different schools.  Oh joy!

Well I am going to enjoy these last 2 weeks of vacation and try to figure out how to make time go more slowly.  Hope all is well with all of you and your families.  Happy Blogging to all.

Relaxing after a long boring week

Hello to all I am back after a long, boring week.  I was back at work for three days of training and it seemed like each day lasted for 50 hours. LOL The kids as usual texted me and called me a million times over the three days because of some trivial thing they wanted permission to do. Thursday night was spent at a local hang out singing karaoke with some good friends.  I have always wondered why people would sing outside of their shower. HAHA It was a true experience let me tell you, some of these people do not even realize they sing really badly.  I have no room to talk though because I would not even have the guts to try it.

Today we spent the day at a birthday party for the chubbiest one year old cutie I have ever seen.  She is totally adorable and knows it.  All of the kids fell in love with her and wanted to bring her home, I dont think so, what would I do with another one.  Hoping to get some much needed r and r tomorrow after church, but for some reason that usually never happens in this fun filled household with 4 monkeys always causing chaos.

Brittany is a much more faithful blogger than I am, but sometimes there really are not enough hours in a day.  It is however and incredible outlet when time permits and I am thoroughly enjoying it.  Thank you to all for the wonderful comments and for being interested in my insane life.  Have a great Sunday and a blessed week.

Totally dragging Monday

Hello all I'm back after a fun filled, adventuresome weekend.  Yesterday was double A's fifteenth birthday and we have been celebrating since Friday.  I took the kids to the local go kart, bumper boat, miniature golf hang out to begin celebrating on Friday.  On Saturday, we went to the quinceanera of a good friend of mine's daughter.  Double A as always stole the show on the dance floor and I got many compliments for his mad dance skills, unfortunately i cannot take the credit because I have no clue where he learned to dance like that.  I must admit though that the kid is good. LOL

Sunday morning after a very late Saturday night, we were up early and ready for church to go and see Brittany sign a special song.  She once again amazed me with her talent.  I have one special kid there as most of you all are already aware.  After church we all went to lunch and then the movies to continue the celebrating.  As a mom I sometimes wonder how I get suckered into watching these totally random movies, but as you all know parents do strange things in order to make their offspring happy.

And today was back to work for the week after a 6 week hiatus from the grind.  Back to the usual up at 5 am routine after falling into bed at 1 am and getting those well deserved 4 hours of sleep.  True to form my day totally dragged and once again I learned the exact same thing I have been learning for the past few years just presented by other presenters.  OH Joy!!!!! Well I just wanted to check in before I go to read an article for work that I should have read 6 weeks age, nothing like waiting for the last minute.  Hoping to fall peacefully into bed before midnight.

Wishing all a blessed week!

NOT Mom of the Year!

NOT Mom of the Year Award

I can definitely be considered for not being mom of the year for a bunch of reasons.  I actually have had many, many years to perfect this. Yes I will admit that I only do laundry once a week, who has time to wash a load a day? So on Saturdays I tackle my mountains of laundry with my kids help of course! After a lot of coaxing and even some threatening involved they all pitch in and bring in basket after basket and hamper after hamper of the dirty laundry of 6 people.

My seven year old eats chicken noodle soup cold and straight out of the can and I honestly don't see a problems with that, hey it is one less dish to worry about. Not that we use many dishes, we are the disposable family everything we use is disposable from the plates to the utensils.  Who has time to waste on washing a sink full of dishes, plus we live in the desert and are experiencing a drought I am saving the water for more important things.

My children do have beds and bedrooms but rarely use them instead they make a nests in whatever the last place they sat to watch tv was. I know this is gonna sound bad but my kids favorite movie is "The Hangover", they all watch MTV and the adult swim and know all the words to the most recent Lil Wayne songs.  My daughter wants to be just like Nicki Minaj so I even let her cut her hair in that style, come on there is only so much whining one person can take.

My oldest daughters best friend is her blackberry and I must admit some of our most enlightening conversations are held via text and not in person.  My kids actually call me by first name sometimes, but only after several attempts of them calling me Mom with no answer so who can actually blame them.

My older son has a mophead because he decided to let his hair grow out but sometimes this comes in handy when he is not listening and I reach out for a wild curl and get his attention. He wears pants in every color of the rainbow and although he owns matching sets of socks refuses to wear them in sets, but would rather wear one of each color.

My dad thinks that I go out to much, but hey if you have an 18 year old built in babysitter shouldn't you take advantage of that? Besides I only go out about once a week if that much and never leave the house before ten p.m.  I always take the kids to church on Sundays is it my fault if a couple of them fall asleep under the pews because the sermon is not holding their attention.

I really don't have a problem with the older kids not having an actual bedtime as long as they don't give me a hard time about getting up in the mornings, or the cup of cold water comes out and they get an early shower.
And I am a true believer that cereal is a food that can be eaten at any meal of the day just like ramen. My 7 year old is now an expert at cooking ramen and even offers to do it when company is over.  Speaking of company we don't have people over often with four kids, a dog, a cat and a fish to take care of who has time to keep a sparkling clean house.  Not me, between work, school, practices, games, homework and having daily battles over the internet cord (which by the way my oldest usually wins) who has time to have a spotless house.  I am content to be able to walk through a room and not fall over anything.

My dog has claws that have never been trimmed, my cat comes and goes as she pleases and well the fish who ever remembers the fish.  But we are one big happy family and we must be doing something right because my kids have not committed any crimes, have not killed each other yet and are intelligent and well rounded individuals.

So my motto is if it ain't broke don't fix it.  For these and many other reasons I have probably forgot I am definitely NOT mom of the year.

Saying good bye to the Mole (aka the wart)

Today we had an appt. at the Dr. for my two beautiful girls. They had both come back from vacation suffering from symptoms brought on by the wet, humid weather in south Texas.  While we were there I asked the dr. to check on something that has been causing kas emotional distress for the past 3 months. She has a wart that she calls her mole on the back of her right leg.  During this time she has worn a littlest pet shop band aid to cover it every single waking moment of the day. This mole/wart has been causing my baby emotional distress for months.

The Dr. today proceeded to tell her horror stories about how warts are contagious and if she continued to mess with it she could actually cause them to spread all over her body even to her face, she was mortified. She then gave her the option to have it shaved off or to leave it alone.  Being that my sweertie is a big chicken she started to whimper and made us all laugh.  After some soul searching and imagining herself with warts on her nose she decided to have it removed.

She was a real trooper and only squeezed my hand a little too tight and only shed a few tears. Anyway after an 8 week treatment of freeze off she should be completely wart free. And I will not be forced to sue anyone for her mental anguish as she had suggested to me on more than one occasion. LOL I will have to make plans for all of the money I will be saving on those blasted band aids.

Brittany has been suffering from severe ear infections for many months now after suffering from a busted ear drum in November.  She was then seen by a specialist who treated her for a fungus in her ear and then diagnosed her with TMJ which is a condition of her grinding her teeth causing damage to her jaw due to stress.  Imagine my calm, cool and collected daughter suffering from stress, go figure.  Well since I am not happy with the diagnosis I requested she be seen by another specialist and asked that she have some other tests run.  I want to get to the bottom of this and see my baby pain free.

I am so glad that my two boys are a bit more healthy than their sisters or i would spend a lot more time at the pediatricians office. LOL Just another day in the life of my adventurous family,

Hopping on the blog bandwagon!

I am participating in this blog bash because it is being hosted by my wonderful firstborn kid!
Not Your Average Teen

I am the proud mother of 4 wonderful, outrageous and loving kids. I have been raising them almost single handed for 6 years.  I do however have the love and support of my father who is also my hero. I have been a preschool teacher for 15 years and yes I must admit I really love kids, my own plus other peoples.  Besides working full time and being a full time mom I also am continuing my education and will be the proud owner of a bachelors degree in Social Psychology as of August 6, YAY!  My children are my world and they are each unique and crazy individuals who keep our house jumping and fun.

And now because my daughter made it part of the rules, I'm going to answer the blog bash questions.
